Asbestos comes in many forms, but it is lined out by the EPA as a mineral fiber that occurs in rock and soil. It can be found in many common materials in homes and commercial buildings that were built prior to the ban on using it as a building material in the late 70’s.
Some commonly found examples are floor tiles and mastic (the glue that holds them down), insulation in the form of vermiculite, old piping used for hot water pipes or steam piping, and even “popcorn” acoustical ceiling texture.
It was commonly used throughout Flathead and Missoula counties and the rest of Montana. There was also extensive mining of vermiculite in Libby, Montana that was contaminated with trace amounts of asbestos fibers.
Cleanup can be costly, but no more expensive then the medical costs associated with asbestos exposure! Make sure you contact the Mold Wranglers to handle any asbestos abatement project you might be looking at in order to ensure the work is done safely and no harm is done to your family or crew!
